Today I’m talking about a book that completely changed my opinion on office romances!
Honestly, I always thought this trope wasn’t for me—too cliché, too dramatic, and just not realistic enough.

But maybe I just hadn’t read the right one yet.

Because this book? It proved that if a trope is written beautifully, it can totally steal your heart. And that’s exactly what happened here.

This story follows a female photographer working as a graphic designer for a small company. She’s not exactly on friendly terms with her boss (to put it mildly). But fate has other plans, and the two end up being set up on a blind date.

To her surprise, he’s nothing like she imagined—and suddenly, they’re not really enemies anymore. At least, not the hostile kind. 

Things get even more interesting when she volunteers to house-sit… and guess what? The house is right next door to her boss’s. And spending a few weeks as neighbors turns into something so much more.

At first, it felt like a cute and cozy rom-com—light, fun, flirty. But the second half? It hit so much harder than I expected. It was emotional, even heartbreaking in parts. I wasn’t ready 🥹

I initially thought of giving this book a full 5 stars, but I ended up rating it 4.5. Here's why (spoiler ahead!):

The male lead has the most adorable, energetic dog named Shadow. He’s such a significant part of the story and absolutely stole my heart. But… he dies. 😭 I was devastated. It’s my first time reading a book where a pet plays such a big role, and this just broke me. So yes, that’s the 0.5 star gone, just because I couldn’t emotionally handle that.

This is actually the second book in The Office Heartthrobs series (standalone romances), and though I haven’t read the first one yet, I definitely will!

This was an ARC read, and I’m so happy I got the chance to experience it. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good romance with a touch of depth and real emotion 💛
